![]() good thing as well, god knows what else they might have up if they head attempted this. apparently this was too difficult for flexiglass to accomplish so it's just hooked up to tail lights. However last night i was doing some prep work to connect the light in the canopy directly to the battery. Moving on and vowing never to use flexiglass again i sort of just got over it and dealt with the fact that it's not the best fit and looks a bit shit up close. they fixed it up and it's been good since then. one of the guys there explained to me that they don't use those clamps anymore, instead they use a clamp that is pop riveted to the lip of the tray. anyway i couldn't quite line it up correctly so i took it back to flexiglass in malaga. at the time it was being held on with clamp that gripped underneath the lip of the tray. i thought at first that it might have compressed the foam it was sitting on but when i was able to have a look at home i noticed the entire canopy had slid back on the tray about 10mm. this where they took to it with an angle grinder. fast forward a few weeks, i open the tailgate and the corner of the tailgate hits the bottom of the window frame on one side scratching it up. i now know to inspect my car much closer after it's been worked on by others. once i got it home i noticed a couple of scratches and chipped paint near the top of the tray. it would been possible for them to make they rear window wider like they do for the dual cab models but i have a suspicion that they just cheaped out on the design for the club cab. He tried to play it off like it was mitsubishi's fault for making such a wide tailgate rather than flexiglass being lazy and not accomodating for it. The guy who fitted it was telling me how they have to grind away part of the rear window frame to make room for the tailgate. that evening i picked it up and this is where i noticed a few issues. it looked well made and fitted neatly so i went ahead and ordered one.Ī few weeks later i took my car to their Jandakot branch for fitting. it's the tradesmen canopy and they had one fitted to the tub of a Hilux. i went to there branch in Malaga to have a look at what i would be getting up close. i have since learnt that carry boy make a canopy for the club cab but at the time i got the flexiglass canopy i thought they were the only ones making one. I have a club cab so i didn't have a lot of options to go with for a canopy. I’ve found since fitting one that I don’t have to worry about fitting nets, tying things down and worrying about someone stealing my gear.Thought i'd do a bit of a review of the flexiglass canopy i had fitted earlier this year. If you need more space, better security and a better storage system then a canopy is probably a great idea. I used plenty of silicon on my canopy, because it is never going to be removed. Clark Rubber sells plenty of foam and rubber, and you just need to make sure that all of the gaps you can find are blocked. Sealing your Ute CanopyĪ lot of people have problems getting a good seal on their canopy. If I had to give a Flexiglass canopy review, I’d say they are a quality product, but I’d still rather an aluminium gull wing canopy. The Hilux Canopies vary from year to year, and you could end up with one that is too short, or too long. Make sure you get the same model canopy though, unless you want to do any modifications. $400 later and I have a great looking canopy for about 20% of the cost of a new one! I then picked up some paint, and paid a mate to spray it. It needed a clean, and wasn’t the right colour. I picked my canopy up for $200, second hand. ![]() My Hilux without the canopy Second hand canopies Camping Kettle Upgrade no more burnt toes!.Snowys the best place in Australia to buy your camping and outdoor gear. Are you being misled by 4WD tow ratings?.Roof racks are you overloaded?
